A DigiD allows you to gain access to hundreds of websites of the Dutch government organisations and organisations that perform a public service (e.g. health insurance companies, tax office, pension funds, etc.). It consists of a username and a password of your  choice,  and verifies your identity. Everyone who is registered with a Dutch municipality can apply for a DigiD code.
